LTSP Alumna the Rev. Kari Hart shares her call journey with Chestnut Hill Local

LTSP alumna the Rev. Kari Hart tells her call story to the Chestnut Hill Local in an article entitled "Life-changing experience at dad’s death bed - From politics to pastoring, Mt. Airy minister shines." Local writer Lou Mancinelli talked with Pr. Hart after she had returned from a three month to sabbatical to Scandinavia and Costa Rica through a grant to her and her congregation, Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Center City. The grant was awarded by the Lilly Foundation.

LTSP UTICA members recognized among Philadelphia's Most Influential African Americans

The Philadelphia Tribune Magazine, published as part of the Philadelphia Tribune, known as "the voice of the African American community since 1884," released its annual list of Philadelphia's Most Influential African Americans in its September 2011 issue.
Just nine clergy were included among the 140 civic leaders selected, and of those nine, three are serving on  LTSP's Urban Theological Institute Committee of Advisors (UTICA).

They are:  

The Reverend Dr. Kevin Johnson, Sr. Pastor of Bright Hope Baptist Church
The Reverend William Moore, UTICA Chair and Sr. Pastor of Tenth Memorial Baptist Church, and a UTI Alumnus
The Reverend Dr. Mark Tyler, Sr. Pastor of Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church

Alumni Lorraine Peterson and Debra Stein to be ordained September 17

LTSP alumni Lorraine Peterson (MDiv '09) and Debra Stein (MDiv '11) will be ordained on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at 837 Charles St., Torrington, CT. Lorraine has been called to serve as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Centerbrook, CT, and Debra has been called to serve as pastor of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Syracuse, NY.
